Operate in Your Strengths

If you and I were exactly the same, one of us would be unnecessary. So why do you keep searching for another you

The truth is you don’t need another you. You need to operate in YOUR strengths every day and give the other responsibilities to someone who is different than you!

Think about all of the things that you’re naturally great at and that you love to do in your business.

You get them done. Most of the time they don’t even feel like work. You feel productive and accomplished when your day is filled with these things, right?

That’s because there is a direct connection in

  1. Who people are and what they do best
  2. What they do best and how it makes them feel
  3. How they feel and how they perform

Let me give you an example of what it feels like to do what you best every day.  (Operate in your strengths)

(You’ll need a timer to do this exercise.)

The first thing I want you to do is make two columns. Then write this sentence five times as fast as you can:

I know my strengths and use them every day

Wait! Before you begin, remember to start the clock AND place your pen in your non dominant hand. Yes, you must use your non dominant hand! Ready? Go!

How successful were you?

  • Very, I’m ambidextrous
  • Somewhat, it was really hard
  • It’s just a mess

How did it make you feel?

  • Great
  • Frustrated
  • Incompetent
  • I couldn’t focus
  • Like a kindergartener
  • Confused

How long did it take you?

__________

Now for step two.

In the column on the right, write the same sentence five times as fast as you can using your dominant hand.

I know my strengths and use them every day.

Remember to time yourself.

Ready? Go!

How successful were you?

  • Piece of cake
  • Easy
  • Nailed it

How did it make you feel?

  • Confident in my ability
  • Happy
  • Experienced
  • Relieved

How long did it take you?

__________

This is what is looks and feels like to do what you do best, or operate in your strengths every day!

You felt better, accomplished more in less time!

Now think about all of those things that you struggle to accomplish every day (because it’s not what you do best.)

Find someone who has the talents to do those things!

Based on Gallops most recent study, organizations who allow people who operated in their strengths every day have:

41 % Decrease in absenteeism

24-49% decrease in turnover

21% Increase in profitability

17% in crease in productivity

20% increase in sales

58% fewer patient safety incidents

70% fewer employee safety incidents

40% Quality incidents

10% Increase in customer metrics

AND people who operate in their strengths are 3 times more likely to report having an excellent quality of life!
